Math

• This week we started off with our Bridges Interim Assessment #2.  
• After that, we went back to Module 4 of Unit 5.  In this module, we will be looking at different story problem scenarios that involve division of fractions.   
• Next week we will finish Module 4, review the work we did this chapter and take the Unit 5 Assessment.
• Unit 6 will be a mixture of graphing with ordered pairs, classifying polygons and, once again.....volume :)
• Our March Number Corner will be focused on area of objects using multiplication of decimals.   In addition, each week we will be gathering data of pencil lengths, placing the data in a line plot, analyzing data and making predictions.

Literacy this week

• This week continued to read and write summaries on the chapters in our text is Promises to Keep  written by Sharon Robinson.  The book is about her father, Jackie Robinson.  
• We also had many discussions about what characteristics are necessary for those people who are working for social change. 
• For ALL Block, we continue to work with vocabulary words, writing responses to our reading and fluency work.  

Science--

Our third unit will be on Modeling Matter as we answer the question: What happens when two substances are mixed together?

• Our first chapter will focus on : Why did the food coloring separate into different dyes?
• Our second chapter will focus on : Why do some salad dressings have sediments and others do not?
• Our third chapter will focus on : Why can salad dressing ingredients separate again after being mixed?
